Interesting Facts About Me

Like all teachers, there’s more to me than what you see in the classroom. To give a better picture of who I am as a whole person, I’ve compiled some interesting and random facts about myself:

  • I have one brother who is 4 years younger than me. He lives in Germany and is pursuing his PhD
  • My parents live part time between Vermont and Costa Rica
  • I have a black and white cat named Tux that I rescued from a shelter rather spontaneously in 2004
  • Tux has lived with me in California, Vermont, The Netherlands, Germany, and Norway

  • I have a second-degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do
  • I am an avid cross-stitcher and find embroidery to be an excellent way to relax after a long day
  • In college and after, I was part of a Swing Dance club that got together on a weekly basis for Lindy Hop dances
  • Swimming is my favorite form of exercise.

  • My favorite band is The Beatles and I have seen Paul McCartney in concert 5 times in 3 different countries
  • Raspberries are my favorite food
  • Gone With The Wind, the Harry Potter series, and Stephen King’s It are my favorite books of all time

  • I have taken part in the Polar Bear Plunge in Alaska
  • In 2010, despite not being a runner at all, I trained for and ran the American River Parkway Half Marathon
  • In addition to speaking English, German, and Dutch fluently, I have also studied Latin, French, and Hebrew (though I’m not anywhere near fluent in them)
  • I have lived in New York, Germany, California, the UK, The Netherlands, Florida, New Jersey, Vermont, and Norway.
